What's the difference between gender and sex?
Despite common belief, sex and gender are completely different things.  A person's sex is determined through numerous physical characteristics (like their genitals, for instance).  A person's gender is determined through whatever they feel most comfortable being.  For example, a person could be born male, but feel more comfortable identifying as female (and vice versa).  Gender is usually thought of only in terms of "girl" and "boy" as they are the most common, but there are many others as well.  Agender is another somewhat common one, where the person does not feel that they are male or female, and are more in the neutral zone than anything else.  Just remember to do your research if you're creating a character who doesn't necessarily identify with their sex to avoid misrepresentation of real-life people.

Does my character have to be a lesbian?
Nope!  Your character can be whatever you want them to be.  Heterosexual, homosexual, pansexual, bisexual... Anything is alright in our books.

Does my character have to be of a specific nationality?
Not at all.  They can be from anywhere in the world.  Just please, for the sake of not misrepresenting real people, do your research before creating a character with a background you're unfamiliar with.  People tend to be shaped by where they grew up, and more often than not, it plays a fairly important role in their life... Especially when they're in a place they're not familiar with.

Do I have to have a face claim for my character?
Whether or not you use a face claim is up to you.  All that we ask is that you use anime/manga claims, not real-life ones.  You can also draw your character, if that kind of thing is more up your alley.

Do you hold activity checks?
Yes.  About once a month or so, a thread will be posted up just to weed out the inactive members.  You'll have two weeks to reply to it before being deemed inactive, so don't worry too much.  If you're gone during the check, but have posted a leave in the absences board OR have contacted an admin, you'll be put on the list automatically.

What happens if I miss an activity check?
If you miss one of the activity checks and do not have a thread posted in the absence board, then your characters and threads will be archived.  We don't delete anything, so you can always ask an admin to get your stuff out for you when you get back.
