Name: Renée Courtemanche
Nickname(s): N/A
Age: 15
Year: Third year
Nationality: French
Gender Identity: Female
Sexuality: Homosexual
Renée’s wardrobe is remarkably diverse, and consists of clothing from all kinds of styles. One day she might be wearing a sundress, and the next you could see her in a gothic, punk-esque getup. What she wears in classes varies greatly too, although it’s more restricted due to the dress code that’s in place. It’s pretty much impossible to determine what exactly Renée will wear from day to day.
Personality: Laid-back and easygoing, Renée’s a go-with-the-flow type of person. She’ll typically just follow along with whatever’s going on unless she’s really against it. It’s rare for her to voice her opinion in regards to most things, like group projects, people, situations, and so on, unless she’s directly asked to share it. She prefers to stay back and just watch things unfold as opposed to “interfering” in things. The situation has to get really, really bad before she will even consider stepping in and doing something about it. This is due to her so-called belief that people need to make their own decisions and come to their own realizations on their own, without other people getting involved. In reality, this train of thought is somewhat forced; Renée is the type who would much rather get involved with the issues of those close to her, but due to past experiences, she’s too afraid to.
Comfort and enjoyment are the two priorities in Renée’s life. She’s long since decided that if she’s not comfortable doing something or enjoying doing it, then she shouldn’t be doing whatever it is. While this doesn’t usually extend to school work, since that’s never particularly entertaining in her eyes, it does still affect all areas of her life in general. Sometimes it’s in a positive manner, and sometimes it’s in a very negative one, depending on what she’s doing.
Magic: Renée is an elemental magician. Being in her third year, she has only just started to study the branch elements. She’s got the basics of the basic elements down, and often plays around with them in her free time. She takes much delight in making small amounts of water dance around or making pebbles circle in the air.

Family: Edgard Courtemanche (father), Claire Courtemanche (mother, deceased), Elliot Courtemanche (little sister), Guy Courtemanche (little brother)
History: Renée and her siblings were primarily raised by their father, as their mother passed away from an illness shortly after Guy was born. Despite their loss, they were a happy family, and a very close-knit one at that. There was very little in the ways of fighting between the three siblings, despite the fact that Renée was three years older than Elliot, and five years older than Guy. They were remarkably supportive of each other, and it wasn’t uncommon for them to get involved in each other’s personal affairs. It wasn’t much of an issue, however, until Guy began grade one. He was a short, scrawny kid with buck teeth and elephant ears, and he was often picked on because of his appearance. It started off somewhat small, small enough that the rest of his family didn’t hear about it for months. Once it escalated to an actual fight, however, this changed. Guy was ganged up on by some of his other classmates, and while teachers intervened before it got real bad, it still had quite the impact on him.
Renée was furious. How dare those ruffians pick on her little brother like that? Despite being five years their senior, she hunted them down and gave them a good “what-for,” complete with name-calling and screeching like a banshee. While she got in trouble for it, she viewed it as being worth it, and began keeping a closer eye on Guy to prevent such an incident from ever happening again. This meant verbally berating just about anyone who so much as looked at him the wrong way. That overly-protective behaviour began to cover Elliot as well, and it got to the point where her father had to intervene. He explained to her that people had to pick their own battles and fight for themselves sometimes, and that she shouldn’t be the one doing everything for them. Reluctantly, Renée began to draw back a little, and eventually things seemed to go back to normal. However, Renée was noticeably less-involved in her family’s life before, often opting to stay on the sidelines even when her help was probably needed or wanted.
Claire, Renée’s mother, was a magician, which was something she passed onto all three of her children. Her husband, Edgard, knew of this, and had been teaching his daughters and son about magic so that they might have some idea as to what they’d want to get into (if they wanted to get into it at all, that is). Renée had always exhibited some interest in it, and jumped on the opportunity to go to Serenus. Not just because she wanted to learn magic, though. Getting away from her family, where she knew she wasn’t supposed to get directly involved with most situations, was a blessing. She had been struggling with just sitting there and doing nothing but offering a shoulder to cry on or small advice, so starting anew with strangers would easily fix that problem. So she packed her bags, bid her siblings and father farewell, and left.
Her first two years at the academy went by smoothly, lacking much in the ways of excitement (good or bad). She spent a lot of time entertaining herself with her magic, reading, and generally avoiding getting too close to people. Renée plans on doing just that for her third year, and the years that follow.

Appearance:
Renée is rather tall for her age, standing at around 5’11” and growing. She’s also a little on the scrawny side, with little in the ways of muscle definition due to her very lazy way of life. Only now has her lifestyle begun to catch up to her in the form of excess fat, although not noticeably so at the moment. However, if she continues doing nothing all day, that will no longer be the case. Her skin is pale, and burns incredibly quickly when exposed to sunlight. She keeps her brown hair cut short, although it’s grown out a little over the past little while and gotten slightly shaggy. It’s gotten to the point where it’s been getting into her hazel-coloured eyes.Renée’s wardrobe is remarkably diverse, and consists of clothing from all kinds of styles.
