Name: Dianna Grey
Nickname(s): Anna, although only people close to her are allowed to use it. She will lynch anyone else who dares to call her by her pet name.
Age: 26
Occupation: Teaches third and fourth year transformation classes
Clubs Supervising: N/A
Nationality: Canadian
Gender Identity: Female
Appearance: Dianna's not remarkably tall, but her thin and long-limbed stature tends to give the illusion that she's above average height. Her skin is quite pale, the result of spending many days inside and generally avoiding the outdoors. Her eyes are a dark, dull brown, and match the colour of her hair. She keeps her hair long, to the point where it reaches the small of her back. It's rare to see her with it pulled back; despite the length, it never seems to be a nuisance to her. Her bangs are swept to the left, not quite long enough to get into her eyes.
Clothing-wise, Dianna prefers to wear long-sleeved, green turtle necked sweaters, red skirts, and black leggings. It's rare to see her dressed down or in more formal attire, as she's not really fond of anything else. The only times she might consider wearing something else are during the scorching hot days in the summer, but even then she usually toughs it out.
Personality: Dianna is a mess of broken pieces, held together only by her desire to obtain utter perfection in every aspect of her life. Unfortunately, this has lead to the destruction of her social life, given that she believes she must view herself as "higher" than everybody in order to be closer to her goal. Associating herself with "commoners" drags her down, which drove her to burn bridges with anyone she was close to, and close herself off from the outside world. She keeps up a cold, arrogant front, shutting down anyone who dares to try to speak to her by sending nasty, cold remarks their way. She's not quiet or subtle about her views, and will tell a person to their face what she thinks of them (or anything, for that matter). Only people who have "proved their worth" are permitted to hold a conversation with her, but even then, Dianna will mock and taunt; she's just a bit more subtle in those cases.
Her complete disregard for the feelings of others does not end there, however. Selfish beyond belief, Dianna will stop at nothing to get what she wants, using any means possible. She isn't afraid to manipulate or blackmail people, but is always very careful when it comes to either. She's meticulous, and plans everything out to the finest detail. Her planmust be perfect, after all, and any slip-ups are unforgivable. She will wait for months, even years, to set everything into motion, and if it looks like the plan might fail, she'll shut the entire operation down and wait some more. Surprisingly enough, Dianna doesn't actually have much in the ways of patience; the only thing that keeps her waiting is her fear of messing up and tainting her otherwise unblemished record.
When in the classroom, she's just a bit more tolerable (albeit not by much). Dianna’s number one priority when teaching is to have everyone pass, no matter their level of competency. She will go out of her way to help those in her class, because heaven forbid someone fail and ruin her perfect record. She might not be the most patient person alive, and gets easily frustrated when her students don’t get the material she’s teaching, but she’s one heck of a stubborn woman, and outright refuses to give up. It might be her one redeeming trait, although the students she’s tutored would probably say otherwise. There is, however, another reason that she tries so hard to get everyone to pass. Dianna failed the basic classes during her time at Serenus, and while she would never admit it, she doesn’t think that anyone deserves the humiliation accompanied with being kept back when everyone else goes forward.
Her quest for perfection extends into her private life as well, and it's here that things visibly fall apart. Every meal must look like the pictures in the cook book, and it must taste phenomenal or else it's no good. Her clothes and bed sheetscannot, under any circumstances, be wrinkled, and everything must be neat and tidy at all times. Her books must remain organized in alphabetical order by author, and then chronologically if it's a series. If there is so much as a thread out of place, Dianna will fall apart. She may not be able to show her misery to the outside world, but behind closed doors, she will completely lose whatever stability she may have left. Her quest has left her broken, fearful, and positively miserable, but the pride that she has left will not permit her to ask for help. She's caught in a never-ending loop of self destruction, and it doesn't look like the chain will be broken any time soon.
Inventory: Dianna has a low affinity for magic, and to try and make up for it, she has a little bracelet that boosts her ability up to that of the average person. The bracelet in question is made of little green beads that are held together by a bit of twine.
Family: Geoffrey Grey (father, unknown status), Allison Grey (mother, unknown status), Jamie Grey (older sister, unknown status)
History: Due to her state of mind, it’s not uncommon for people to believe that Dianna must have been the product of a history wrought with tragedy, although that couldn’t be further from the truth. Her home life was as normal as it could be (minus the fact that everyone in the family could use magic), complete with loving parents and an argumentative older sister. School was just fine too, both academically and socially. Dianna was somewhat of a perfectionist, but it wasn’t the unhealthy destroy-your-life kind of thing. She just wanted to do well.
The issue arose when Dianna followed her sister to Serenus. Jamie was naturally gifted with magic, whereas Dianna was… well, she had a rough time with it. She could get the theory down, but when it came to putting things into practice, she just couldn’t do it. Where her peers were growing by leaps and bounds, she was left sitting in the dust. It got to the point where she had to retake all of the Basic 02 classes, setting her back an entire year. She would practice day and night, desperately trying to catch up, but it wasn’t a problem that she could overcome with effort alone.
Dianna began searching for ways to make up for her inability, often overcompensating in other areas of her life. It was especially prominent in the regular academics, as it got to the point where she would accept nothing less than 100%. She was already working herself to the bone, trying to reach the level that her peers were at in magic, so the addition of everything else pretty much broke her. By the end of her ninth year (as she had to take an extra year to complete the magic courses she had fallen behind on), Dianna was but a bitter shell of her former self.
After graduating, she dropped off the face of the earth for two years to try and find something to help her. She cut ties with everyone she used to know—family included—and travelled far and wide, studying with various magicians in hopes that they knew a way to “fix” her. Unfortunately, no such thing existed. She did, however, find the bracelet she owns today, so it wasn’t all in vain.
After two years, her funds dried up, and Dianna was forced to return. She didn’t go home, though, opting to instead take up a position at Serenus. She got lucky and managed to snag a job teaching transformation magic, and has been there for the past three years. During that time, she has been not only teaching, but researching and tinkering as well. She’s certain that there must be a way to up her capacity for magic, and all she has to do is find it.
